Medialthea supports La Magia di un Sorriso, a non-profit organization that has been working for over ten years alongside the Terapia Intensiva Pediatrica (TIP) of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome.
This project focuses on strengthening life-saving neonatal care through the acquisition of advanced medical equipment for critically ill newborns.
The Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Policlinico Umberto I treats newborns affected by severe perinatal conditions, including hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, a condition caused by oxygen deprivation at birth.
Every year, around 30 newborns require immediate neurological monitoring and timely intervention to prevent permanent brain damage.
The project supports the purchase of a Cerebral Function Monitor (CFM), an essential device used to:
This funding enabled the immediate procurement of the device, avoiding delays that could have compromised patient care.
Part of the contribution also supports the purchase of hygiene kits for newborn patients, responding to everyday care needs within the intensive care unit.
