Medialthea supports WeWorld’s action in Palestine, contributing to education and protection programs for children and families affected by the ongoing conflict.
WeWorld is an independent Italian organisation engaged in development cooperation and humanitarian aid projects for over 50 years, operating today in more than 20 countries. It has been active in Palestine since 1992 in the West Bank and since 1997 in the Gaza Strip. With over 30 years of experience, it operates in the fields of education, protection, WASH, shelter, and food security & livelihoods.

Main focus areas of the program
A Temporary Learning Space (TLS) for children affected by conflict in Palestine
Medialthea supports WeWorld’s education and child protection programmes in the Gaza Strip, where thousands of children face daily challenges due to the ongoing conflict.
In Gaza, WeWorld establishes and manages Temporary Learning Spaces (TLSs) — safe and inclusive schools that ensure continuity of learning for children who have lost access to formal education.
Each TLS offers a comprehensive approach combining education, psychosocial support, health and hygiene promotion, and community engagement.
In every TLS:
- Remedial education programmes support more than 800 children per year.
- Teachers and psychologists receive dedicated training and on-the-job coaching to integrate Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) methods.
- Recreational and awareness activities promote resilience and hygiene through play, storytelling, and creative expression.
- Caregivers and families take part in stress-management workshops to strengthen the social network around children.
These spaces offer not only access to learning but also protection, stability, and hope — key elements for children’s recovery and growth in humanitarian settings.
Medialthea contributes to this intervention by:
- Supporting the setup and operation of one Temporary Learning Space in Gaza
- Funding teacher and psychologist training, educational materials, and recreational activities
- Promoting inclusive and gender-sensitive education, including menstrual hygiene management for girls
- Strengthening community engagement to ensure long-term sustainability and resilience
