Medialthea confirms financing for Naibala Academy expansion in Kenya

Report by Andrea Lacertosa – GREEN WORLD FOR KIDS | 8 December 2025

Medialthea is pleased to announce the confirmation of a €15,000 funding in support of Naibala Academy, a community-based school located in a remote Maasai area of Kenya, where access to structured and continuous education remains limited.

This intervention supports the construction of two new classrooms and their operational functioning, strengthening the Academy’s capacity to deliver stable, quality education for girls and boys, and contributing to long-term sustainability of the school in a context where access to continuous education remains a serious challenge.

Why we are funding Naibala Academy

Education is a fundamental driver of protection and development. In many remote areas of northern Kenya, children — especially girls — face multiple barriers to completing their education, including long distances to school, lack of infrastructure and socio-cultural pressures that can interrupt learning.

Medialthea’s commitment builds on a long-standing partnership with the local organisation Green World Food Garden for Kids, whose daily presence on the ground ensures close coordination and accountability. This follow-up funding reinforces our shared goal of making education a safe and sustainable opportunity for all children in the community.

Context and impact

Naibala Academy is an established school that already plays a critical role in the community. The expansion will:

  • Add two fully functional classrooms, significantly increasing learning space

  • Improve conditions for students and resident teachers

  • Support the pathway toward formal institutional recognition of the school

  • Enhance access to continuous education for children from surrounding Maasai settlements

By creating environments where children can learn consistently and safely, the project also reinforces protection against early school leaving and other risks linked to educational exclusion.

First steps: beginning of construction

Below you can see the first video from the start of construction of the new classrooms — a significant milestone for the school and the community.

We will continue to share updates from the field as the work progresses.
