Medialthea supports the association with a particular focus on primary healthcare clinics in the al-Qarara and al-Mawasi areas.
EMERGENCY is an independent and neutral international organisation founded in 1994 to provide free, high-quality medical and surgical care to victims of war, landmines and poverty. EMERGENCY promotes a culture of peace, solidarity and respect for human rights. In Palestine, EMERGENCY has established and currently runs healthcare facilities in Gaza, providing essential medical assistance to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.
Medialthea supports EMERGENCY’s healthcare activities in al-Qarara and al-Mawasi, two areas of Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip.
In al-Qarara, EMERGENCY’s team — on site since August 2024 — runs a clinic equipped with an emergency room, four outpatient clinics, a gynaecological unit, a vaccination room, and a dispensary. The facility provides first aid, medical and surgical stabilisation, reproductive health services, and nutritional support for children with severe malnutrition. Every day, around 240 patients are treated, almost half of them minors.
In al-Mawasi, EMERGENCY offers medical and logistical support to a primary healthcare centre managed by the local NGO CFTA – Culture & Free Thought Association. Patients receive free basic care, medicines, and post-operative dressings, while EMERGENCY’s staff supervises and trains local personnel and ensures the supply of essential medical materials. Since the start of activities, the centre has provided over 26,000 consultations.
