Baby Wolf: Rapid Genetic Diagnosis for Newborns

About

Medialthea supports A.B.C. Associazione per i Bambini Chirurgici del Burlo in strengthening advanced genetic diagnostics for critically ill newborns treated at the IRCCS Burlo Garofalo, a national reference center for maternal and child health.

The program focuses on enabling rapid genomic diagnosis for newborns born with, or presenting, severe and complex clinical conditions, allowing life-saving decisions to be made within the very first days of life.

Rapid Genetic Diagnosis for Critically Ill Newborns

The program supports BABY WOLF, an advanced rapid genomic analysis pathway designed to drastically shorten diagnostic times for newborns in critical condition.

For critically ill newborns, time is a decisive factor:
a delayed diagnosis can mean missed therapeutic windows, irreversible neurological damage, or loss of life.

Medialthea’s support has contributed to:

Thanks to this support, it is now possible to overcome the limitations of traditional genetic testing, which can take weeks or even months, forcing clinicians to rely on non-specific or temporary treatments while families remain without clear answers.
