The Cerebral Function Monitor (CFM) donated by Medialthea has successfully completed testing and is now ready for clinical use at the Pediatric Intensive Therapy of Policlinico Umberto I in Rome.

A vital tool for neonatal care

The CFM is used to assess neurological function in newborns affected by perinatal hypoxic-ischemic events and provides essential information for the timely initiation of controlled therapeutic hypothermia, currently the only treatment able to prevent permanent neurological damage.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit treats approximately 30 newborns with perinatal asphyxia every year.

Medialthea contributed €30,000 to the project promoted by La Magia di un Sorriso ONLUS, which has supported the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Policlinico Umberto I for more than ten years.
