A new milestone has been reached at Naibala Academy in Kenya: the two new classrooms supported through Medialthea’s funding are now welcoming students and hosting daily lessons.
The achievement came remarkably quickly, despite the torrential rains that affected the area at the end of December and created significant challenges during the construction work.
From construction to everyday learning
The two classrooms are part of the expansion programme supported by Medialthea, aimed at strengthening Naibala Academy’s educational infrastructure and allowing the school to gradually extend its educational offer.
Medialthea’s funding contributed not only to the construction of the classroom structures, but also to the equipment and teaching materials needed for everyday school activities, including blackboards, desks, geographical maps and educational posters.
What was recently an expansion project is now a concrete part of daily school life.
Medialthea’s commitment builds on a long-standing partnership with the local organisation Green World Food Garden for Kids, whose daily presence on the ground ensures close coordination and accountability. This funding reinforces our shared goal of making education a safe and sustainable opportunity for all children in the community.
Supporting the growth of Naibala Academy
In the latest video update from the school, Andrea Lacertosa of Green World for Kids visits both classrooms and meets the students during their lessons.
The new classrooms represent another important step in the development of Naibala Academy and in its gradual expansion towards a complete Junior Secondary educational programme.
The video offers a direct glimpse into this progress: new spaces, new learning opportunities and children already using the facilities created thanks to the support received.
In the first classroom, the students are attending an English lesson, while in the second they are studying geography. As Andrea enters, the students stand to greet him and later offer a special message of thanks to Medialthea in Italian, English and French.
At the end of the visit, students from the school gather outside the classrooms for a final greeting and a collective thank you to Medialthea.
Each new classroom is more than a building. It creates the conditions for more children to continue their education within their own community and for Naibala Academy to keep growing, one step at a time.
