At Vatican Radio’s Sala Marconi, Enrico Medi was remembered through science, faith and the family testimony of his daughter Maria Stella Medi.

On 20 May 2026, the Sala Marconi of Vatican Radio hosted the press conference for L’infinito negli occhi – Enrico Medi, an initiative dedicated to the memory and legacy of Enrico Medi: scientist, politician and man of faith.

As reported by Corriere dello Spettacolo, the meeting became more than a formal presentation: it offered a moving reflection on Enrico Medi’s public role, scientific thought, spiritual depth and family memory

Science, faith and public commitment

Enrico Medi remains one of the most significant Italian figures of the twentieth century. A physicist, university professor, member of the Constituent Assembly, parliamentarian and Vice-President of Euratom, he was also a beloved science communicator for RAI and one of the voices who accompanied the Italian public during the Apollo 11 moon landing in 1969.

During the press conference, H.E. Mons. Fabio Fabene, Secretary of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, reflected on the spiritual path of Enrico Medi, while Prof. Riccardo Faccini highlighted the scientific stature of a man who consistently sought harmony between scientific knowledge and Christian faith.

Maria Stella Medi’s family testimony

A central moment of the meeting was the testimony of Maria Stella Medi, daughter of Enrico Medi. Her words brought the audience closer to the private dimension of a public figure: not only the scientist and communicator remembered by Italy, but also the father whose memory continues to inspire his family.

Her testimony offered an intimate and human perspective on Enrico Medi’s legacy, showing how his thought still speaks to today’s world through responsibility, wonder and openness to the mystery of human dignity.

A poetic tribute by Emmanuel Casaburi

The press conference also included a moving artistic moment. Actor Emmanuel Casaburi offered an unexpected poetic tribute dedicated to Maria Stella Medi and to the speakers present, anticipating the readings from Enrico Medi’s writings scheduled for the special event on 26 May at Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome.

This gesture helped transform the press conference into a moment of shared memory, connecting public history, personal testimony and artistic expression.

A legacy that continues through Medialthea

For Medialthea, this reflection has a special meaning. Enrico Medi’s legacy is closely connected to the family history of Maria Francesca Angelini, founder of the association, and continues to resonate with Medialthea’s commitment to children, education, health and human dignity.

The journey dedicated to Enrico Medi continues on 26 May 2026 with the special event “L’infinito negli occhi – Enrico Medi” at Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome.
