A Tribute to Enrico Medi: “L’infinito negli occhi”
On 26 May 2026 at 6:00 p.m., Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome will host “L’infinito negli occhi – Enrico Medi”, a special event dedicated to the legacy of Enrico Medi, scientist, politician and man of faith.
For Medialthea, this occasion carries a special family and cultural significance: Enrico Medi was the grandfather of Maria Francesca Angelini, founder of Medialthea. His legacy continues to resonate with the values that inspire the association’s commitment to children, health, education and human dignity.
About the event
Following the decree of venerability of Professor Enrico Medi, the event offers a public reflection on his life, thought and enduring relevance. Through readings from his writings and contributions from speakers and witnesses, the evening will explore the many dimensions of a figure who brought together scientific knowledge, civic responsibility and Christian faith.
The event will feature readings from Enrico Medi’s writings entrusted to actor Emmanuel Casaburi.

Born in Porto Recanati in 1911 and passing away in Rome in 1974, Enrico Medi was a physicist, university professor, member of the Constituent Assembly, parliamentarian, Vice-President of Euratom and one of Italy’s most beloved science communicators. He is also remembered for accompanying the Italian public during the Apollo 11 moon landing broadcast in 1969.
One of the thoughts most closely associated with him, “L’uomo è più grande delle stelle” — “Man is greater than the stars” — expresses the depth of his vision: science as knowledge, but also as wonder, responsibility and openness to the mystery of human dignity.
Medialthea’s contribution
During the event, Dr. Daniele Bonetti will present the activities of Medialthea, promoted by the family of Maria Stella Medi to honour the memory of Enrico Medi. Prof. Giovanna Battaglia, Headteacher of IISS Medi in Palermo, will also present the innovative educational activities supported by the association.
